Abstract 1443 Examining Math Prerequisite Criteria: A Correlational Study Between ALEKS PPL Test Scores and General Chemistry Outcomes for Undergraduate Students at a Midwestern University

This study examined the relationship between Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces Placement, Preparation, and Learning (ALEKS PPL) test scores and general chemistry outcomes for undergraduate students at a Midwestern university. General chemistry courses are often known as gateway courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. These courses can be problematic for students and institutions because of their high-enrollment and high rates of D, F, withdrawal, or incomplete grades.
