Abstract 2584 Quinoline-derived antibiotics targeting ATP synthase in Gram-negative pathogens
Bacterial multidrug resistance (MDR) is a looming worldwide health crisis with current trends predicting 8 million deaths per year by 2050. The Gram-negative bacterial pathogens Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) and Acinetobacter baumannii (AB) have been identified as particular threats due to their prevalence in health-care settings and difficulty to treat using antibiotics with long-used mechanisms of action. To expand treatment options for these infections, new antibiotics with novel targets are needed.
