Abstract 1272 Nephroprotective effect of the hydroalcoholic fraction of the medium polarity extract of Potentilla indica in rats with type 2 diabetes

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a microvascular complication associated with diabetes. DN represents a significant public health problem, emerging as the leading cause of end-stage renal disease in the world and the second leading cause of mortality in diabetic patients. Multiple studies have suggested oxidative stress (OS) as a fundamental factor in the development of ND. OS involves an increase in the production of reactive oxygen species combined with a decrease in the activity of antioxidant enzymes under conditions of hyperglycemia, which compromises the structural integrity of the kidney and therefore renal function.
