Desafios e Perspectivas para a Educação Antirracista no Contexto da Educação Profissional e Tecnológica do IFRS, Campus Rio Grande
This article presents an ongoing research study that analyzes the establishment of the Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Studies Center (NEABI) at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS), Rio Grande Campus, regarding the consolidation of an anti-racist education within the context of Professional and Technological Education (EPT). The specific objectives include mapping NEABI's actions, understanding its organization and physical structure, identifying initiatives aimed at anti-racist education, and comprehending the limits and possibilities of this education through NEABI. The study is characterized as qualitative, framed within the perspective of contemporary history, drawing from the works of Ferreira (2000; 2002) and Fico (2012a; 2012b). It is guided by memory concepts from Halbwachs (1990), Montysuma (2019), and reflections on the Sankofa philosophy, emphasizing the ongoing importance of valuing memories and narratives rooted in African and Afro-Brazilian issues, as presented by Nascimento (2008; 2009; 2022). The methodology also employs oral history, primarily supported by Alberti (2004) and Meihy (2010; 2011).
