Abstract 1273 Hepatoprotective antioxidant effect of the ethanolic fraction of the ethanolic extract of Justicia spicigera in a non-alcoholic fatty liver model

Fatty liver disease is associated with metabolic risk factors such as obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and metabolic syndrome. In parallel, it is estimated that 30% of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) may develop complications such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) at the time of detection. Likewise, 38% of patients with NAFLD and development of fibrosis may develop cirrhosis, which doubles the possibility of suffering from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
