Abstract 1440 Screening Soil for Antibiotic-Producing Bacteria
Nearly 80 years after the discovery of bacterial resistance to penicillin, the antibiotic resistance crisis has become a top public health threat. Traditional antibiotics have become inefficient as bacteria continue to acquire resistance genes and develop defense mechanisms, and researchers and medical professionals are desperate for solutions. One approach to resolve the crisis is to search for new antibiotics through soil bacteria, which are known to produce metabolites with antibiotic potential.
