Abstract 2604 The Role of DGLA - THF- Diol on Neuronal Health Span of C. elegans
Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and their bioactive metabolites are critical in many biological processes, including neuronal functions and death. The amount and quality of dietary PUFA intake may significantly influence the regulation of endogenous levels of corresponding metabolites, which are critical in linking PUFAs to neurodegenerative conditions. Among all PUFA metabolic pathways, our group and others demonstrated that cytochrome P450-epoxide-hydrolase (CYP450-EH) pathway plays a pivotal role in neuronal health by generating bioactive metabolites demonstrated in studies with Caenorhabditis elegans (C.
