Abstract 1635 Evaluating the role of RIG-I in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer
The detection of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) plays a crucial role in the innate immune system. The Retinoic Acid-Inducible Gene I (RIG-I) like receptors, MDA5 and RIG-I sense dsRNA and activate the type I IFN pathway, leading to the production of interferon stimulated genes (ISG). While both can recognize viral long dsRNA, only RIG-I can be specifically activated by short 5′-triphosphorylated dsRNA. In the context of cancer, activation of the type I IFN pathway can improve the efficacy of immunotherapies.
