Abstract 2352 G protein Coupling Selectivity in Parathyroid Hormone 1 Receptor

G-coupled Protein receptors (GPCR) are the largest family of membrane proteins and mediate cellular responses to stimuli. Parathyroid hormone 1 receptor (PTH1R) is a type of class B GPCR that specifically regulates calcium ion homeostasis and is important for physiological processes like kidney function and bone density and remodeling, as well as diseases including osteoporosis and hypercalcemia. PTH1R is activated by two endogenous hormones, parathyroid hormone (PTH) and parathyroid hormone related peptide (PTHrP), which stabilize unique conformations that then couple to different G protein subtypes and activate distinct downstream signaling pathways.
