Abstract 1085 REGULATION OF RETINOIC ACID SIGNALING AND ERK 1/2 PATHWAY IN ASTHMA
Vitamin A deficiency and dysregulated ERK 1/2 (extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1 and 2) signaling have been linked to exacerbated asthma, presenting with multiple features such as airway hyperresponsiveness, mucus hypersecretion, and airway remodeling. Previous studies indicate that retinoic acid (RA), an active metabolite of vitamin A, is dysregulated in asthma and may influence similar cellular pathways. Similarly, the ERK 1/2 signaling pathway plays a role in regulating airway smooth muscle cell proliferation.
