Abstract 1772 Visualizing the Switchlike Dynamics of the Fluorescent Nitrate Sensor (“NITROFF1”)
Nitric Oxide (NO) is a key regulator of multiple physiological processes, with roles in cardiovascular function, metabolism, and neurotransmission. Oxidation of this potent biological messenger serves as a mode of rapid inactivation, resulting in the measurable end products of inorganic nitrate (NO3) or nitrite (NO2). Herein, we generate a novel biosensor through insertion of a known nitrate binding domain into eGFP. This biosensor, designated as (“NitrOFF1”), leverages nitrate binding to switch between ON and OFF fluorescent states.
