Abstract 2474 ROGDI is the homolog of yeast Rav2 and a novel Rabconnectin-3 subunit
V-ATPases are well-conserved rotary proton pumps which function primarily to acidify intracellular compartments. The low pH of intracellular compartments is essential for a variety of cellular activities including protein sorting and degradation of unneeded proteins and autophagic cargo. In multicellular organisms, V-ATPases have adapted to serve specialized functions. V-ATPase activity energizes the active transport of neurotransmitters into synaptic vesicles and regulates the acid/base balance in the kidney.
