Integrating Spatial as an Immersive and Innovative Educational Platform Among Students in a Mexican University

Metaverses, also known as immersive environments, are revolutionizing how learning is conceived by providing a platform where students can experience real-life situations virtually. These environments facilitate interactive and collaborative learning in education, overcoming traditional physical and temporal limitations. Accepting technologies like metaverses is crucial for successful integration into education, as perceptions of usefulness, ease of use, and enjoyment directly influence their adoption. This study aimed to evaluate students' perceptions of the usefulness, ease of use, enjoyment, and acceptance of Spatial as an immersive educational platform in a public university in Mexico. The study employed a mixed-methods approach using an explanatory sequential design that combined quantitative analysis of questionnaires and qualitative analysis of interviews. Quantitative results indicated that Spatial was perceived as a useful tool that enhances academic performance and was easy to use. Qualitative findings reveal that Spatial fosters student motivation and engagement, with students describing greater involvement in activities due to the platform's ability to simulate real-world scenarios and facilitate active participation. Spatial offers significant opportunities for students to engage in interactive, social, and educational activities within a three-dimensional digital environment. Future research should ideally include more students and various educational levels, such as high school or basic education.
