Research on the Application of Parametric Design in Developing ICH Cultural and Creative Products

Based on the analysis of different modelling platforms available for parametric design and the modelling logic, this research takes the Sanzao Bamboo Grass Weaving Technique, one of the province-level intangible cultural heritages (ICHs) in Guangdong, China, as an example to discuss the path and method of using the Grasshopper platform to develop ICH cultural and creative products, which expands designers' pool of tools available in this specific field. Besides, digital parametric design can innovate traditional crafts in terms of material, technique, and depth of product scope, so as to facilitate the protection of ICHs by virtue of digitalization and endow ICH products with more possibilities. Thus, it provides a new idea for the protection and inheritance of ICHs.
