JaiaBot: Open Source Multi-AUV System for Scalable Data Acquisition
The JaiaBot system leverages open source software and modular electronics combined with innovative hydrodynamics to produce a low cost multi-vehicle fleet for shallow water data collection. By utilizing a design that is a hybrid of a surface vehicle and a profiling float, the JaiaBot can perform point measurements in depth while avoiding expensive underwater navigation and communications components. Applications for the JaiaBot have been wide-ranging due to its flexible payload capabilities and ease of integration due to its open source software design.
