EVALUATION OF LARGE-SCALE PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IN BANGKOK

This research aims to examine the factors influencing the efficiency of managing large-scale public construction projects in Bangkok. It analyzes the challenges encountered in budgeting for these projects and proposes recommendations for improving project management, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The study adopts a qualitative research design, with data collected through interviews with 20 key informants involved in the assessment of large-scale public construction projects in Bangkok. These informants include two project managers, eight engineers responsible for large-scale construction, and ten officials from government agencies overseeing and approving the projects. The findings identify several key factors that impact project efficiency, including meticulous planning, effective inter-agency coordination, the use of technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), and the availability of skilled personnel. Challenges identified include delays in budget approvals, budget overruns, a lack of transparency in budget management, and underutilization of technology. The study recommends the adoption of modern technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), to improve tracking and risk analysis. It also suggests establishing dedicated coordination units, enhancing personnel skills, and promoting transparency through E-Procurement and real-time monitoring systems. In conclusion, the successful management of large-scale construction projects in Bangkok requires careful planning, efficient coordination, transparent budget management, and the integration of modern technologies to increase efficiency and create long-term value.
