Hacer de escombros, paisajes
It can be stated that the history of Venezuelan art begins its narrative with the colonial heritage of the landscape tradition. From there on, the conception of the modern landscape has been shaped as a structure that evolves in parallel with urbanization processes, culminating in its own present ruin, both physical and discursive. Aiming to provide a contemporary perspective on the landscape in Venezuelan visual arts, this essay explores works in which the conception of the landscape transcends one of the most prominent discourses developed by artists during the transition to the 21st century: the failure of modernity. It thus takes a path that understands ruin as a return to the origins of nature.
