Deterministic vortex revivals in partially coherent beams

We demonstrate through theoretical calculations that it is possible to construct partially coherent beams that will periodically manifest a deterministic vortex on axis at tailored propagation distances. These beams are constructed from a coherent and incoherent superposition of Bessel beams. We provide illustrative examples of the phenomenon and discuss the practical implementation of such beams.

Abstract

We demonstrate through theoretical calculations that it is possible to construct partially coherent beams that will periodically manifest a deterministic vortex on axis at tailored propagation distances. These beams are constructed from a coherent and incoherent superposition of Bessel beams. We provide illustrative examples of the phenomenon and discuss the practical implementation of such beams.
