La educación intercultural bilingüe entre las valoraciones identitarias e instrumentales de las lenguas (Chaco, Argentina)
The Qom community in Chaco (Argentina) faces a complex sociolinguistic situation, characterized by heterogeneous Spanish-Qom bilingualism, varying across geographic distribution and the age of speakers. In the current context, Intercultural Bilingual Education (EIB) is entrusted with the task of maintaining and revitalizing the language, particularly among children and young people who have Spanish as their first language. Interviews with Qom teachers reveal tensions between attitudes toward both languages and community demands. From the perspective of language policies, these tensions are analyzed within the framework of EIB, offering an interpretation that incorporates historical and social factors to understand the identity and linguistic processes affecting the Qom community.
