Abstract 1024 Generation of Human Metabolite Piceatannol from Resveratrol by Bacterial Toluene o-Xylene Monooxygenase Variants
The biocatalyst toluene o-xylene monooxygenase (ToMO) of Pseudomonas sp. OX1 belongs to the great family of bacterial multicomponent monooxygenases and has been shown to have a potential for biotechnological applications. Resveratrol and one of its major human metabolite piceatannol are natural products produced by plants with wide range of potential health benefits including anti-ageing, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, and anti-inflammatory properties. In this study, metabolism of resveratrol was examined with Escherichia coli TG1 strain expressing native ToMO for the very first time.
