Abstract 1974 Purification and Characterization of a novel peroxidase isolated from Jalapeño seeds
The peroxidase from horseradish (HRP) is used in most applications requiring a peroxidase because of its commercial availability and the extent to which it has been researched. HRP functions by initiating a free radical-based mechanism, which has certain limitations such as chemical inactivation of the enzyme and nonspecific regioselectivity. A library of peroxidases from different plant sources was employed to screen for peroxidases with potential peroxygenase activity, which functions through a more selective oxygen-insertion mechanism.
