Abstract 2374 Examining the Transmission of the Allosteric Site in ADP Glucose Pyrophosphorylase Across Bacterial Species
Glycogen is synthesized in bacteria via the regulatory enzyme ADP-glucose Pyrophosphorylase (ADP-Glc PPase) which catalyzes ATP and Glucose-1 phosphate (Glc1P) to create ADP-glucose and pyrophosphate (PPi). In one bacterial species like Escherichia coli (E. coli) ADP-Glc PPase is activated by fructose-1,6- bisphosphate and inhibited by AMP. In a second bacterial species, Agrobacterium tumefaciens (A. tumefaciens) the enzyme is activated by fructose-6 phosphate (Fru6P) and pyruvate (Pyr) and inhibited by AMP.
