Abstract 2796 Using Transient State Kinetics to Contextualize the Catalytic Strategy of Human Ferroptosis Suppressor Protein 1
Ferroptosis suppressor protein 1 (FSP1) is a membrane associated NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase. It promotes neoplastic cell survival by regenerating membrane associated quinols, which ameliorate reactive oxygen species to stave off oxidative damage to membrane lipids. This prevents ferroptosis, an iron-mediated form or regulated cell death, and as such FSP1 has been identified as a potential drug target. Despite this, a comprehensive biochemical characterization of the enzyme has not been performed.
