Abstract 1055 Palmitate-induced lipotoxicity in muscle cells: The role of lysosomal stress and mitophagy deficiency
Objectives: Insulin resistance (IR) is a key pathophysiological hallmark present in most patients with obesity and its tightly associated to mitochondrial dysfunction in skeletal muscle. Nevertheless, the origin of obesity-induced mitochondrial dysfunction remains elusive. Thus, this study aims to reveal the mechanism leading to mitochondrial dysfunction in muscle in an in vitro model of obesity-induced IR. Methods: Obesity-related IR was induced in vitro by incubating C2C12 myotubes in a high-palmitate medium (0.15 mM) for 16 hours.
