Abstract 1126 Hexokinase-phosphoglucose isomerase and hexokinase-glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase multienzyme complex dynamics are affected by glycolysis and oxidative pentose phosphate pathway flux
The association-dissociation dynamics of transient complexes of enzymes of adjacent metabolic pathways can regulate flux distribution ensuring cellular homeostasis. However, the exact mechanisms regulating such dynamics are yet to be understood. We hypothesize that the reciprocal dynamics of the multienzyme complexes of yeast glycolytic enzymes, hexokinase (HXK2) and phosphoglucose isomerase (PGI1), and the complex of HXK2 and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) of the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway (OPPP) regulate flux distribution between glycolysis and OPPP.
