Abstract 1128 The combination of aqueous extract of Eryngium carlinae with silver nanoparticles improves mitochondrial function in the brain of Wistar rats with type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is the most common type of diabetes, accounting for approximately 90% of all diabetes cases. T2DM triggers the development of various complications that affect practically all tissues and organs. One of the main complications is diabetic encephalopathy (DE). Two of the main factors that trigger the development of ED are oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. The excess of substrate generated by chronic hyperglycemia in non-insulin-dependent tissues such as the brain causes an increase in oxidative metabolism in the mitochondria.
