Abstract 1895 Schlafen 11 impairs West Nile Virus polyprotein expression in a catalytic-dependent manner
Our laboratory has discovered that the type I interferon-induced protein Schlafen (SLFN) 11 impairs West Nile virus (WNV) replication. However, the exact stage of the viral life cycle targeted by SLFN11 remains unknown. To gain insight into this restriction mechanism, we assessed the effects of wild-type SLFN11 and various mutants on WNV polyprotein expression using a replicon system. In this experimental model, WNV polyprotein mRNA is transcribed from a plasmid, allowing us to focus solely on the production phase of the viral life cycle without involving viral replication.
