Abstract 1907 Characterizing Chromatin Assembly Factor Capabilities of the ATP-dependent Chromatin Remodeler PICKLE (PKL) in Arabidopsis thaliana
The cell's need to condense/package its genetic material poses significant problems as access to the genome, whether it be for transcription or replication, becomes limited; as such, the cell makes use of a concert of different factors to dynamically bridge the gap between the access to, and the packaging of, the cell's genome. Of these factors, the Ogas lab is specifically interested in chromatin remodelers. PICKLE (PKL) is an ATP-dependent chromatin remodeler in Arabidopsis thaliana that plays a critical role in gene repression by promoting homeostasis of trimethylation of lysine 27 on histone 3 (H3K27me3).
