Abstract 2097 Editing the epigenomes of neurons with CRISPR
Editing the epigenomes of neurons with CRISPR Epigenetic modifications are essential to regulate gene expression in human cells. Neuronal genomes are uniquely enriched in CH methylation (mCH), a DNA modification that accumulates during postnatal development and plays a critical role in neuronal maturation and function. Unlike canonical CG methylation (mCG), mCH is neuron-specific and directly influences gene expression and chromatin remodeling. Dysregulation of mCH has been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders, including Rett Syndrome, yet its precise biological functions and the mechanisms controlling its establishment remain poorly understood.
