Abstract 1569 Mot2 is a potential regulator of autophagy in yeast identified by bioinformatics analysis
In this study, we used a bioinformatics approach to identify yeast Mot2 as a novel potential regulator of autophagy-related (ATG) genes and autophagy. Canonical macroautophagy/autophagy is a highly conserved mechanism of cellular degradation and recycling. Basal autophagy is essential for homeostasis, but is upregulated under stressful conditions (such as nutrient limitation). Currently, >40 ATG genes have been identified in yeast, many of which have homologs or at least functional counterparts in more complex eukaryotes.
