Abstract 2058 Switch-ing things up: a novel method of post-translational control in C. elegans
In animal models, the ability to inactivate gene function in vivo is essential for understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate normal and disease states. While genome editing technologies can generate gene knockouts with constitutive loss of protein product, these technologies cannot be used for essential genes required for viability. Essential genes may have important roles later in development that are currently uncharacterized due to their essential roles in early developmental events.
