Entre a Corte e os surdos: uma revisão bibliográfica da política para a educação dos sujeitos surdos no Brasil Império (século XIX)
This work aims to provide a brief bibliographic review highlighting research that has focused on the Imperial Institute for the Deaf and Mute. The Imperial Institute for the Deaf and Mute was the first institution founded in Brazil with state support to serve individuals with hearing impairments (Siems-Marcondez, 2013). To this end, the bibliographic research was based on the studies by Andrade (2010) and Pradonov and Freitas (2013). From the presented works, the analysis revealed that the topic of the History of Deaf Education and the history of the Imperial Institute for the Deaf and Mute has garnered the attention of some researchers, but these efforts remain modest, still requiring further research to help fill any existing gaps.
