Abstract 2774 Effects of Tributyltin Exposure on Expression of Insulin-Degrading Enzyme and Amyloid Precursor Protein in a Transgenerational Mouse Model

Type 2 diabetes, which is linked to a downregulation in insulin-degrading enzyme (Ide), and Alzheimer's disease, which is characterized by increased expression of amyloid precursor protein (App) in the brain, have increased significantly over the last few decades and have become some of the most salient diseases worldwide. This project attempts to answer the question “Is there an association between TBT exposure and expression of Ide and amyloid precursor protein?”, by first assessing beta-amyloid plaque formation in the brains of transgenerational mice with chronically decreased levels of in their livers due to long-term consumption of a high-fat diet.
