Abstract 2669 Host-Directed Rapid Detection of Viral Infection Using m6A Epitranscriptomics
Studying the genetic landscape within host cells during viral infection is crucial in epidemiology, while it is challenging to fully understand the dynamic interplay between host and virus. Here, we aimed to enhance viral detection and to unfold the mechanism by investigating transcriptional and post-transcriptional changes in host cells when infected with two different viruses: Vaccinia virus and human Coronavirus 229E. Using MeRIP-Seq, we characterized N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modifications, pivotal regulators of transcripts' lifecycle, in host transcripts across different phases of viral infection.
