Abstract 2724 Twist and Shout: Targeting DNA Gyrase to Untangle Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis
In 2023, an estimated 10.8 million people contracted tuberculosis (TB) worldwide, leading to approximately 1.25 million deaths. Despite the disease's high mortality rate, only two out of every five individuals worldwide have access to life-saving treatments. DNA gyrase, a key enzyme involved in bacterial DNA replication, presents a promising target for developing novel therapeutics to combat TB, particularly drug-resistant strains. This enzyme is essential for the survival of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), the pathogen responsible for TB.
