Abstract 2246 Cell signaling via two Wnt5a protein isoforms alters the immune-signaling profile of tumor-infiltrating macrophages in vitro
The human WNT5A gene encodes two protein isoforms that have previously been shown to have distinct functions in cancers, as well as involvement in both pro- and anti-inflammatory signaling pathways. As common tumor-infiltrating immune cells, macrophages may be important recipients of Wnt5a signaling. Therefore, in this study we used an in vitro model of human macrophages to investigate the expression of cytokine and cluster of differentiation genes at both the mRNA and protein levels in response to treatments with secreted Wnt5a protein isoforms.
