Abstract 1241 Sodium-Proton Exchanger Activity Regulates Reactive Oxygen Species Signaling in Zebrafish Tail Regeneration
Zebrafish, among other aquatic vertebrates, have the exceptional ability to regenerate their tail after amputation. However, the environmental factors regulating this process remain poorly understood. We hypothesized that intracellular pH (pHi) might regulate zebrafish larval tail regeneration, given that pHi influences key cellular activities such as proliferation, migration, adhesion, and fate determination. A previous study showed that pHi decreases in the tail of Xenopus laevis tadpoles after amputation and recovers within 3-5 minutes (Matlashov et al., 2015).
