Abstract 1867 Characterization of the ISWI subunit SMARCA5 in Rhabdomyosarcoma
Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a rare but aggressive soft tissue cancer affecting mostly children. It is primarily of two types – embryonal (ERMS) and alveolar (ARMS). RMS is a relatively rare form of cancer but often presents with poor prognosis and low survival rates even today. New insights into the molecular alterations in RMS that drive tumor growth are still needed to increase our understanding of this aggressive pediatric cancer in order to develop better therapeutic options. Chromatin remodeling is essential for transcription, DNA replication, DNA repair and any other regulatory factor to gain access to the otherwise condensed genomic DNA.
