Abstract 2281 Epigenetic Drivers and Subtype-Specific Roles of DNMT3B in Acute Myeloid Leukemia
DNA methyltransferase 3B (DNMT3B) plays a critical role in cellular development and differentiation by maintaining genomic stability and silencing repetitive elements. However, emerging evidence highlights its oncogenic roles in driving aberrant DNA methylation (DNAm) patterns, activating oncogenes, and silencing tumor suppressor genes. Overexpression of DNMT3B is associated with poor prognosis and survival in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). In both adult and pediatric AML cases, patients with DNMT3B expression above the median exhibit significantly fewer complete remissions (p < 0.05) and shorter overall survival (p < 0.01).
