Abstract 3042 Exploring the Crossroads of Neurodevelopment and Neurodegeneration: The RNA Exosome and Human Disease
Fundamental mechanisms of neurodevelopment and maintenance of neuronal homeostasis rely on precise regulation of gene expression. While transcriptional control has long been recognized as a key regulatory layer, post-transcriptional mechanisms, particularly RNA processing and decay, are equally essential for shaping the neuronal transcriptome. The RNA exosome, a post-transcriptional regulatory complex, is an essential and ubiquitous ribonuclease that is critical for the proper processing and degradation of a variety of cellular RNAs.
