Abstract 2372 Reduction of planar-cell-polarity protein expression prevents pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma metastasis
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a grim prognosis, with a minority of patients surviving 5 years after diagnosis. Recent efforts to create “sub-types” of PDAC have led to the understanding that the more aggressive “basal-like” or “squamous” subset is more likely to metastasize and result in the worst patient prognosis. Here, our objective was to understand the role of Wnt signaling proteins in the progression of PDAC. Using the TCGA and CPTAC databases, along with known protein-markers for the basal-like tumor subset, we have found basal-like human PDAC tumors have high expression of proteins involved in planar-cell-polarity (PCP), a type of non-canonical Wnt signaling.
