Abstract 1405 Nanobead Sunscreen synthesis from Kaempferia galanga rhizomes and assessment of Efficacy to block Ultraviolet B radiation
Excessive exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) radiations without any protection increases the risk for skin damage and skin cancer. Cinnamate derivatives are common sunscreen agents due to their ultraviolet radiation (UVR) absorbing properties. The objective of this study was to extract ethyl-p-methoxycinnamate, from K. galanga rhizomes, an aromatic ginger and embed in nanobeads to form a nanobead sunscreen. The second goal was to assess effectiveness of synthesized nanobead sunscreen in blocking ultraviolet B (UVB) radiations.
