Abstract 2021 The Effects of T2 Antigen on Thyroid Receptor Activity
Thyroid hormone receptor b (THFb) plays an important role in cellular processes, such as growth, differentiation, and metabolism.Complications with THFb, whether transcriptionally or otherwise, can cause many diseases, including cancer. Therefore, it is imperative that the mechanism of THFb is better understood to evaluate its potential as a therapeutic target. This experiment focuses on the pathways that THFb influences to suppress the cellular growth that causes cancer.Specifically, immortal fibroblast cells, as well as fibroblast cells with the T2 antigen were analyzed to determine the differences in THFb between the cell lines. The T2 antigen plays a critical role in cancer, as it aids in antitumor immunity. Therefore, the relationship between THFb and T2 could reveal important considerations for using THFb as a druggable target. The study primarily focused on the ERK pathway due to its ability to cause increased cell growth, ultimately contributing to tumorigenic properties.Proliferation and viability assays, as well as immunoblotting, and real time PCR were conducted to better understand the role of THFb and T2 in the ERK pathway.
