Abstract 1163 PROTACs to study subcellular chemistry
Eukaryotic cells are highly complex with membrane enclosed regions called organelles. While many subcellar regions have been thoroughly explored to date, peroxisomes remain understudied due to the limitations of existing methods and chemical technologies. Of particular interest is the role of Pex5 in peroxisomal homeostasis. Pex5 is a key protein that controls all protein import into the peroxisomes. Currently, there are no reported small molecule inhibitors of Pex5. To address this issue, we have designed a proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC) to target and degrade Pex5 through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.
