Abstract 2309 Tulsi as a Natural Remedy for Type II Diabetes

Type II Diabetes results from impaired insulin receptor signaling in pancreatic beta cells, which hinders glucose absorption. Human Islet Amyloid Polypeptide (hIAPP), co-expressed with insulin, aggregates to form amyloid fibrils that lead to beta cell death. Tulsi extract has demonstrated natural and effective hypoglycemic effect in rats and is believed to possess anti-diabetic and antioxidant properties. This study aims to evaluate the impact of Tulsi on beta cell viability and its effect on hIAPP toxicity levels.
