Abstract 2729 13C-Labeled Probes for Ovarian Cancer Screening via Beta-Galactosidase Detection
Ovarian cancer remains one of the deadliest cancers, with only 20% of cases detected early. Early detection drastically improves survival rates, with over 94% of patients surviving more than five years when the disease is identified at an early stage. However, no reliable screening methods currently exist. Commonly used tools, such as transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) and the CA-125 blood test, have significant limitations. TVUS can detect masses but cannot distinguish between benign and malignant growths, while the CA-125 test lacks specificity, as elevated levels are often caused by non-cancerous conditions like endometriosis.
