Abstract 2848 Structural and functional insights into NHE1 and TBK1: Implications for disease and therapeutics
DNA mutations affecting protein structure, or overexpression of proteins, within complex signaling networks are often linked to serious disorders. Disruptions in the Sodium Hydrogen Exchanger Isoform One (NHE1) and TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1), key components of these networks, contribute to disease progression. Understanding their structure and function provides opportunities for therapeutic targeting. NHE1, a transmembrane transport protein, maintains intracellular and extracellular pH by exchanging H+ and Na+ ions in a 1:1 ratio.
