Abstract 2101 Using Inhibitors of Succinate Dehydrogenase and Glycolysis to Treat Pancreatic Cancer Cells
Cancer cells have been shown to have an altered metabolism. This project set out to characterize the metabolic differences between immortalized pancreatic ductal epithelial cells (H6c7), pancreatic ductal carcinoma cells (Su.86.86) and pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells (BxPC-3) in order to find a treatment that would preferentially kill pancreatic cancer cells. A complex II enzymatic assay on isolated mitochondria showed that Su.86.86 cells had a 2.3-fold increase in complex II activity compared to H6c7 cells, while BxPC-3 cells had no change.
