Abstract 2413 Probing the acid regulation of SD1 function
pH is an essential regulator of molecular and cellular biology. For example, transmembrane proteins, such as acid-sensing ion channels and proton- sensing G protein-coupled receptors, mediate cellular responses to extracellular acid signals and threats. Furthermore, subcellular compartments, such as endosomes and lysosomes, have evolved pH values regulating organelle-specific macromolecules, metabolites, and lipids. Our lab has recently discovered a transmembrane protein, SD1, that localizes to vesicles trafficked on microtubes and is enriched in cellular projections and tunneling nanotubes.
