Abstract 2657 Transcription activation of dsz operon by direct interaction of DszGR with RNA polymerase
DszGR, a TetR family protein, acts as the activator of the dsz operon of Gordonia sp. IITR100. The dsz operon governs the important 4S pathway for the desulfurization of organosulfurs. DszGR binds to a region approximately 305 bp away from the initiation codon of the first gene of the operon. Recently, we demonstrated that IHF binds and induces bending of the promoter DNA. The overall mechanism of the long-distant transcription activation by DszGR remained unknown. We hypothesized that DszGR may interact directly with RNA polymerase or via other proteins for activation.
